What Falwell, Robertson and Bin Laden Have in Common

Squirrel? No squirrel here!

My brother, from AZ, was out visiting over the weekend. Good timing as the leaves are starting to display their fall colors with zeal. Also the birds are starting to fatten up (on my yard's earthworms no less) for the migration south. Here's some pictures around the house, click for a slightly larger version:

That last picture shows my contribution to yard ornamentation this year. For my 40th birthday I got this oddball kite that buzzed like a fly when you flew it. The kite eventually fell apart but the buzzer (that bow shape on the airplane) is in fine shape. Now as the wind picks up the tail fin swings the rig into position, the propeller start spinning like crazy, and eventually the buzzing kicks in like some little Cessna on takeoff.

The New York Times has a series of interactive graphics which present some of the technical aspects of the WTC disaster and aftermath.
In the first "slide" they show the resulting map by laser measuring technology from 5,000 foot flyovers of the WTC area. Click the popup menu in the upper right corner for other choices.

Some folks not only like taking things apart but also putting them back together in completely new and strange ways. Check out the portable PSOne.
