You've heard enough about the bazillion uses for duct tape. What other objects are found in your life that you use for everything BUT what it was intended for?
For me it would have to be the lowly curtain hook. Sharp point on one end, severe bend, then gradual hook. Seems I use one almost every other week to fix or make something around the house, just today I used part of one to replace the "drive shaft" in my fish tank pump.

October

O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
To-morrow’s wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
To-morrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow,
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know;
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away;
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes’ sake, if they were all,
Whose leaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost—
For the grapes’ sake along the wall.

Robert Frost

Oh, man, it's cold this morning! Glad we harvested the rest of our garden this weekend. On Sunday, which was truly a cold and blustery day, we even had a brief period of snow. Not the beautiful flakes you may be imagining, more like jagged, ill-concieved ice pellets. Crazy looking clouds all day, with towering cumuli that sported long streaks curving from the tops down to the ground.
