This is either a great feature or a waste of twenty minutes programming. Now whenever someone comes into this weblog from a Google search they will see a search link to help find their search phrase across the Jer zone.
Every day I get hits from folks searching for Pergo Prodigy (and my talking about it probably won't help) and Google insists on sending them to the homepage rather than back in January where I posted the article. Now they should see a special hotlink just for them. Try it yourself and click the Jer zone on the results page at Google.
Funky new flavors coming to a grocery freezer near you: cinamon sugar, sour cream/chives, blue, or chocolate french fries?
Weekend walk in the woods with photos...
I now have the beginnings of a search engine onboard...look under the NO KIDDING sign on the right. I used the Search Engine in Perl as a starting point and then fixed a few things and added a couple features. Need to fix a few niggling details but in the meantime you can find every page featuring Zeke.
That was relatively painless. All of my past blogger posts are now imported into Radio. A few of the posts needed to be republished but that was due to the somewhat sporadic Starband FTP uploading capabilities. Now all of the posts, from back when I started in July of 2001 to the December posts (
The DogCat and
Rolly the Toilet Using Snowman) are in Radio. If only I could get Google to re-index the site...
Some "how-to's" I want to try out:
Import blogger to Radio (my old weblog archive is blogger) and making a
Search Engine in Perl. I'm also thinking of making a PHP or Javascript function that parses the referrer and pre-loads the search box text (once I add the search). I get quite a few visits from people searching for something that I posted weeks or months ago yet the search engine drops them off at the front door. Seems like I ought to help them out.
