Joel has a new article, The Iceberg Secret, Revealed. I agree that good looking demos can be a two-edged sword, even between a single programmer and a long-time client. Which kind of reminds me of another Joel article where he states that users don't read the manual, which could be augmented with "or listen to programmer caveats." To be fair, though, I seldom register what someone in admin or HR says. 401k? Insurance rider? Fnerdle forms? Right, I'm mentally twiddling bits while this stuff whistles right on through... Wholelottanothing adds an anecdote on why they switched to using Lorem Ipsum (jumbled latin).

Itching to learn OS X cocoa programming? Giles Williams has put together a little game, Jewel Toy, and has also been good enough to share the source code. You'll need the Mac OS X developer tools which is a free download, or even comes bundled with new systems/OS X purchases. The game's code is pretty straight forward and the game itself is addicting.
