You ... some machines ... some robots ... aliens ... and nature.

That's the premise behind CoLoBoT, a new 3D real time game of strategy and adventure. BTW, your robots are programmable.

Magnetostriction, that's what the new soundbug uses to turn any flat surface into a speaker for your stereo or portable player. Wasn't Nicola Tesla reputed to have done something like this but on a much larger scale?

Maybe you can hook up a few soundbugs to the side of a building. Tune the frequency of the oscillator feeding the soundbugs such that it hits the natural structural frequency of the wall, ultimately tearing it apart like the Tacoma Bridge? Maybe not.
