The Energy Flow chart below reminded me of the map by Charles Joseph Minard in 1861 depicting the losses of Napoleon's army during the Russian Campaign. If you've never seen this it is well worth a look.

"Tomorrow I will get on a plane. I'll have my PowerBook with me. On that flight, I can write Cocoa apps, PHP-based web sites, Tomcat web applications, AppleScripts or Perl scripts. I can use Project Builder, Emacs or vi. I'll have my choice of MySQL or PostgreSQL to use as a back-end database. I'll use Apache as my web server. And it is all free! If I'm willing to spend a little cash, I can also run Word or Photoshop. I may even watch a DVD on the flight. " Aaron Hillegass

Here's what my OS X looks like:

bash2.05 jerry@localhost ~ % uptime
10:44AM up 18 days, 17:16, 1 user, load averages: 0.49, 0.18, 0.09
It's true, OS X died 18 days ago when I accidentally unplugged it. What I really need is a counter to show how many times internet explorer has died during those 18 days. It doesn't matter, except as a minor annoyance, I just re-start it and keep on moving. On the other hand I've downloaded the latest Mozilla build for OSX and it looks pretty good.

topography The Astronomy Picture of the Day has an interesting view of our moon taken during the Clementine mission. More images and info on the mission is avialable here.
