Our new frigerator arrived yesterday and it needed to come in the back door. We told the delivery guys they could drive the truck around back but they said not to worry, they've got it all under control. At the truck they pulled the fridge out of the box, slipped this canvas strap under it, and then put end loops from the strap over their shoulders. Like this forearm forklift but using shoulders instead. The fridge was only lifted a couple of inches off the ground and they strutted it around the back, up the stairs (that took a bit more grunt work), and into the house in a matter of minutes. They call it a "buddy strap" but I can't find the product name on the web.

I find it disturbing how low tech most appliances are. To adjust the temperature of a brand new fridge they still say things like "move the temperature setting a notch and wait a few hours to see if it gets cold enough." In another chapter they suggest using an appliance thermometer to check the temp. Why not set the exact temperature using a digital readout? If you buy a two thousand dollar fridge then you start seeing digital readouts and settings, the parts for which probably add ten bucks to the bill of materials.
