Tascam just announced the FW-1884, a professional Digital Audio Workstation control surface and audio/MIDI interface that uses FireWire (IEEE 1394). Frontier Design Group (I work there) built most of the guts. I'd be lying if I claimed to understand all of it uses and capabilities, but it's pretty cool. Check it out.
