I've been thinking about making or using someone else's existing photo gallery software for this website. In thinking about it I keep coming to the realization that the images I've posted in the past will need to be revisited/reclassified/replicated and probably some other re's I can't remember. Blah.

While on a long walk I came up with an alternative. Since this weblog is my own home brewed contraption I can get tricky. All of the data is in a database already and, wouldn't you know it, databases are good at making selective queries.

With the addition of a new web variable my normal weblog script now queries for entries by date AND the IMG tag. It then removes all of the non-markup (i.e. text) and pops the results into normal Jer Zone templates. Sweet. No new interface to learn, no new section on the site.

Even though the text gets disappeared most of the formatting is left behind. That's either good or bad, I'm not sure. It wouldn't be too hard to strip out everything but the images and display them more uniformly, but I kind of like the crazy quilt results with the current approach.
