I wonder how many King's Highways there are in the world? For a while it was probably quite a common name. The one that Zeke and I traverse on our commute has been decommissioned for quite some time. Parts are overgrown, some of it is a farm road, and the section leading away from this sign is now a snowmobile and dirt bike path.

Out of curiosity I googled for King's Highway and discovered others with similar fates. Did city planners sit down with road budgets in hand and think "King? We don't need no stinkin King!" and slash the budget until it faded into a dirt track? In Texas the Daughters of the American Revolution funded a resurvey and marking of their King's Highway.

Here's a company that will turn your weedwhacker into a model airplane engine or a motorized bicycle. Do the world a favor and opt for the new 4-stroke engines from Honda and others when buying small engines (mowers, whackers, etc..). Less polution, less noise, and you don't have to mess with mixing oil and gas.

Better yet, try out some of the cool new electric automatic and push mowers. I was surprised to discover that battery powered mowers aren't a new concept. Here's a svelte looking battery powered mower from the 1950's.
