This will go down as the Summer that rocked! As in rock wall, rock garden, and rock walk. Seems like every time a weekend rolls around we are undertaking another project involving rocks. Heck, we even bought rocks to extend the fun. While moving them on Sunday I foolishly left my shirt off for too long and now I'm a Rock Lobster.

In between rock wrangling Faith mentioned how nice a cold ginger beer would be. It is that time of year and the one thing this web log is noted for (if you believe google referrers) is Jer Zone ginger beer. So today I brewed a gallon that will be ready tomorrow.

It should be an interesting batch. While boiling the water I tossed in cardamon, peppercorns, fennel seeds, cayenne, and a cinnamon stick. And of course a quarter cup of freshly juiced ginger root. Ginger beer enhancements in the past have included brown sugar, molasses, lemons, and limes, none of which really improved upon the base recipe. This time I'm shooting for a subtle spice bite. If it turns out tasty I'll post the recipe.
