Attack of the Opera Cleavage

Attack of the Opera Cleavage!

Attack of the Opera Cleavage!

Faith is a member of the chorus in a local production of Verdi's La Traviata opera, thus the crazy makeup and outfit. One of the singers took the photo, which was in bright flourescent with a flash (gack!). In the second act Faith wore a more conservative outfit, as a gypsy.

Opera reminds me of the old Bob and Ray skit called Slow Talkers of America. Someone sings something, the teleprompter translates, and then the next few minutes the same thing is sung over and over again, different trills, maybe some arm waving or clutching at a broken heart and then on to the next sentence. I suspect the lyrics for the entire opera fits in a scant few paragraphs.

The orchestra was great and of course you can't beat the chorus! ":^)

A letter to the editor of our local newspaper was headlined "Delightful Night at the Opera" and read in part, "A full house gave Opera North's production of Verdi's La Taviata an enthusiastic and lengthy standing ovation on opening night, August 9. The riviting tragic tale and glorious music held the audience's attention for every moment."
