Zeke has been feeling better lately. His leg seems pretty much healed and the various afflictions hounding his ears are starting to clear up. Tough summer for the dog, but nothing that a romp through the fields won't help cure. It's times like these, when he's jetting full throttle across a field that I'm reminded of a cruel little song I wrote for him, sung to the tune of Born Free.
Brain free, 'cause that's where the wind blows
It whistles up my nose, and goes out my ear holes, brain free
Brain free, I goes where my nose goes
I may lose a few toes, but that's what they're there for, brain free
Various additions befitting a given moment but for the most part I just sing the first line and all seems right with the world.
Hey, speaking of brain free, my attempt at raising blueberries is still failing miserably. I planted two bushes last year and harvested a grand total of five berries from one plant. Then in the winter I hit that plant with the snowblower. The other day I noticed that both blueberry plants are convinced that it is fall. At least this strange looking caterpillar seems to be enjoying the colorful leaves.
