Jetboil
Jetboil

My friend Dwight has been sequestered in his laboratory for the last two years working on his brainchild, Jetboil. I couldn't stop thinking about it on our last camping trip, especially while unpacking, setting up, pumping, priming, lighting, and tweaking the whisper stove, accessories and cookware. A Jetboil or two would have been all we needed.

That's not to say it's only duty will be in the backwoods. One of these would make the nearly yearly drive to Wyoming more enjoyable, or at least more hot-drink enjoyable. Hitting the road at the crack of dawn you are faced with braving truck stop coffee, or waiting an hour or two for fresh coffee. I could make a mean cup of Cowboy coffee with the Jetboil instead.

Be sure to check out all of the wonderful Jetboil recipes, especially the Jet Beans and Franks.

Any idea what this will cost? No mention of SRP on the website.

No, I don't know.

So that's what Dwight's been up to. Cool beans.

Swirling Doom
Isabel

APOD (Astronomy Picture of the day) has a great photo of hurricane Isabel today. If you have the bandwidth be sure to click the image for the large version (800k).

My brother's family has a dog named Isabel. If this storm is anything like little Isabel then we are in a world of....well, it'll be messy.

UPDATE 9/19/03: here's a satellite photo of Isabel over land.

Morning

hiss and splatter of rain
chaotic bird song
mock jungle
new england morning

lush green grass
red and yellow dapple
impatient leaves
rush the season

animated tree
leaves under raindrops
a thousand cantilevered movements
orchestrate wet ambiance

flash of blue
jays jive and quarrel
new yorkers
lost in the country

Last mushroom

Button button

I will try to stop posting mushroom pics for the rest of this year. Considering that the humidity has been stuck in the 70's and it's been raining all night I doubt if it is the last mushroom we see. Surely it is time to move on to more interesting pictures...bright orange leaves and dogs eating snow, for example.
