The White Mountains

NH White Mountains

Dad is out visiting so we spent a day driving New Hampshire's White Mountains, enjoying the fall colors. As we got further north the colors started to disappear as did the warm temperatures. This is a shot along the Kancamagus highway. Note the *real* white mountain.

Blustery winds and gunmetal gray clouds seemed to keep the tourists away ('cept for us). That and we took some of the less maintained mountain roads. As we approached Mt Washington the clouds opened up with a cold, driving rain, which digressed into a flinging, splopping slush storm and finally into a full blown snowstorm. A little soon for that I think.

Not that it's been all that warm at home. Checking out our temperature over the last week shows it averaging down lower, with shorter daytime highs. It looks a lot like a skipped rock winding down and that's how it is feeling. We've been putting in dozens of plants around the pond, moving some more rocks, gravel, and bark mulch to finish it off before winter. Next Spring should be awesome.
