The other half of yesterday's photo suffered a strange camera anomaly. Something about the bright snow stripes sent the photo detector into a loop such that it mirrored them.
Maybe there's an easter egg or hidden diagnostics buried in the photo processor? Kind of like this PHP egg (it works). When the camera sees a certain pattern it alters it or runs tests via hidden code.
Which isn't that far out. Supposedly Photoshop detects when you are trying to work on currency and displays an error message.
How hard would it be to build a "privacy" filter into digital cameras and then sell a companion device which renders the bearer unphotographable?
Some of the Kodak cameras sport a scriptable operating system called Digita. Those of you with these cameras can even play Doom. Maybe a more practical application is this GPS interface.
p.s. the ski hill is the little town run Storr's Hill in Lebanon, NH, complete with t-bar lift!
I like your choice of website for the PHP egg! Fitting.
I think the stripes are a result of reflections in your camera's optical path from a very bright source, rather than any chip-level processing. I've seen this effect in my LCD screen when including the Sun within the view frame.
