Here's a secret message for my nephew Christoper to decode:
Another satellite image from MODIS this one of an Australian cyclone. While running it through a number of photoshop filters (inverse, low pass filter, color balance, sharpen) I noticed a familiar pattern, the Golden Ratio.
There are plenty of results when searching for Golden Ratio or Fibonnaci, but none quite so comprehensive as Ron Knott's. Ron even has a fibonacci weblog.
Roland wrote about smart ways of packing complex objects yesterday, showing computer renderings of a box packed with speakers. Square box, essentially square distribution. I wonder if the problem could be approached the other way, take a tip from Nature and use fibonacci patterns.
Look around and you'll see, humans like squares.
It's windy enough...
