The Robot Lawn Mower has its own "dog fence" and navigation systems. On the expensive side (almost two thousand bucks) but the FAQ is fun and free to read, featuring answers to thought provoking questions such as:
- I really enjoy mowing the lawn, besides this is just pure laziness.
- Since it moves across the lawn in many different directions, won't I have lawn stripes that make my lawn look like a puzzle?
- I like stripes on my lawn - how do you respond?
- Will it work with an invisible dog fence?
I read the last one and couldn't help but wonder about invisible dogs. Such a niche market and yet they have their own fences...
Best link of the bunch, hacking your flashlight to use LEDs instead of incandescents. Nice, bright light and much longer battery life. Here's an LED guide chock full of useful information. Typically you need to add resistors to match the LED voltage requirements to the battery voltage. I found a series of white LEDs from Sunbrite LED which work off of 12v, so an extra resistor isn't required (it's probably already built in). Digikey sells them for a buck sixty each, even less in quantity.
