Lark

I changed the layout this afternoon. Finally got tired of zeeing renaissance Zeke in the upper corner and the quite dated site logo. The number of days shown is now one and there's a new control in the menu for toggling a list of weblogs on/off.

The new logo took surprisingly little time to create. Opened up photoshop expecting to spend a bunch of time weeding through pictures and experimenting. Instead I found what I wanted right away. The logo is a curve of flowing water, flipped upside down, with the colors inverted. I like it.

Not sure what to do with the weather graphic hiding in the upper right side. It wasn't meant for a dark background. It's a special banner the guys at WeatherUnderground.com made for our Mapblast design many years ago. Mapblast is no more but the banner lives on.

Not sure what to do with the menu bar on the right. I might experiment with moving it to the bottom of the page, like Chris and others have done. Doing so would open the door to even wider, bandwidth sucking photos!

Update: lightened up the logo a bit, which took care of the weather icon. Repurposed a CSS menu technique which works on the handful of browsers I tried (albeit messier in Win IE...no surprise). Probably be messing with things off and on for a while.

Update #2: seems the menus don't work in IE for Mac and actually show up off the right side of the page. Is anyone using IE on Mac? (why?) If so I'll try to come up with a fix.

I'd *love* it if you moved the menu to the bottom, as Chris has done, so you can display wider photos!

Why do you think they call it bandWIDTH? ;-)

I hate to say it, but I think your new logo is depressing, in great contrast to your old jovial one. :-(

Hey, I'm a dark and edgy kinda guy...

Menus are still a work in progress, let me know how they work in your browser(s).

What do you think of the blue logo?

Redesigns are in the air.

No one with a dog can be a dark and edgy kind of person. That belongs to cat people.

Much nicer in blue!

When I look at the logo I see the anti-logo and that looks like a snow covered ski slope.

Your current logo just reflects you maturing side. The less whimsical, very serious side that is striving for the heights of mountains and the rush of the slope.

I like the whimsy better, though.

I checked the shelves and we were all out of whimsy.

There's a small jug of jocularity but the expiration date came and went long ago. You know how that stuff gets after it has settled and lost a few free radicals.
