Waterside
Waterside

It's been a gorgeous week. On Sunday Zeke and I drove into work and dropped off the car. We've been walking to/from work every day since, which averages between 7 and 8 miles a day (all uphill!). I'm feeling pretty good. Zeke has been getting along well, no leg problems.

Everything is starting to bloom, buds are un-folding from branches, and it smells wonderful (except near houses using "spring fresh" laundry products...jeesh!). Spring is a little slow coming to these parts but it really is worth the wait.

Random things:

  • a volvo stopped at corner by our house, driver got out...HOLDING DINNER PLATE...walked up to check bumper, got back in and drove on
  • construction team with giant back-hoe, spray paint on ground showing where things are, handful of workers waiting while someone walks back and forth with a pair of bent coat hanger wires dowsing
  • Zeke and I stumbled across a pair of huge, snoozing turtles...picture later if it turned out
  • four bumble bees lying on the sidewalk outside the office, early morning forty two degrees. nudged one with a key and it "woke up" and moved around groggily
  • oh, and the toads are back!

The photo was taken in a shallow little frog pond, nestled in the woods a half mile from our house. A shaft of light was hitting a small island (probably a half-submerged log) of moss, setting it aglow. Four feet away, on hands and knees in the muck, I was focusing on how the light hit the little hair-like plants. It wasn't until I got the images onto the computer that I noticed how cool the water looked.

Wow, nice one! I was thinking you must have gotten awfully wet taking that one. :) You are so much more dedicated than I am.

Not at all. I'm just muddier than you are...
