This has been a really snowy December so far. At first I didn't notice how much snow we'd gotten, since it consisted of a small flurry here, a bigger storm here, a few more flurries. Then I tried to walk through the yard and realized it was almost two feet deep. That was a week ago, we are probably closer to three feet of snow now, especially in areas of drifting. I started trying to pull some of it off of the shed and house roof and found that it's really heavy stuff, with a thick layer of ice part way through the strata.
This is outside the office as I headed home from work yesterday. The snow was falling in large, fluffy flakes that looked deceptively insubstantial. Yet when it came time to clean off the driveway and the roofs I found that it was heavy and solid stuff. All of the trees are sporting a beautiful two to three inches of snow. If we can keep this for a few more days it will make a picture postcard white christmas.
