A couple of photos from the noon hike that Raz and I took in the woods today. Pretty darn chilly out there. The snow has a crunchy ice topping that usually supports a 50lb dog, but sometimes surprises him. Having experienced our first sub-zero temps this year there are lots of spots where the water was more or less extruded from the ground as either filigree feathers, like above, or long, hard candy shafts. Quite beautiful.
It's funny, when in our woods at home and out to go to the bathroom Raz is tip-toeing around, trying not to break through the snow cover. On the noon hike he could care less, blasting along at his normal thirty miles an hour, nose held inches above the ground.
