A Smattering of Snow
After our light snow

From our noon hike yesterday. Raz, who's been cooped up at home and the office, was off like a shot, running through the woods full speed in all directions and disappearing for long stretches of time while pursuing fresh deer trails. There's another animal trail we've been seeing lately in the fresh powder. More of a dog sized print and yesterday I found it along the same trail as the deer. Coyote? Wild dog? Wolf? I've sighted a couple larger, grayish animals in the past half year and since I didn't think there were any wolves in New Hampshire (maybe coming back?) I explained them away as the former.

The snow depth varies from three inches in the more open areas to just barely an inch in the deeper wood cover. With the crusted ice remains from the first half of laying in wait under the snow it can be a bit treacherous walking. I'm hoping for a couple more inches of snow to make cross country skiing possible again. Raz is hoping I don't get sick again and unable to take him on long walks.
