I don't really know much about trees either, but that definitely is not an oak. Oaks are trying to take over our garden (I blame senile squirrels), and this is what they look like:

Now, excuse me while I go pull them out; we don't have any room for a forest...

Anyway, I figured hazelnut because of what it's growing out of, and the little nut trees I pulled out this spring might indeed have looked like that.
