I've posted a small gallery from yesterday's hike up Mt. Moosilauke with Chelsea & Jake.
Also posted is a photo gallery from our trip to New York City
It's been hectic lately with no time to sleep, much less post. Saturday Chelsea and I headed to NYC for a whirlwind two day exploration. From a Broadway show to a walk in Central Park, lovely Thai food to Starbucks for breakfast, visiting the Empire State building to a somber journey past ground zero, riding the Staten Island ferry to perusing the dried fishes and exotic veggies in Chinatown. All that and more in about twenty four hours.
Not to seem like slackers we grabbed her brother and headed out Monday for the New Hampshire White Mountains. Our first stop was Mt. Moosilauke for a vigorous and challenging climb up the Beaver Brook trail (highly recommended if you are an experienced hiker). Not so much a trail as a mile long rocky ladder placed alongside a wonderful series of waterfalls.
After that, everyone exhausted and manageable, we drove the Kancamaugus highway, up route 16, and then to the top of Mount Washington. I've seen the bumper stickers but hadn't ever considered it until a friend suggested it this year. Great trip up and down with fantastic views and terrain. Pity the visibility was only 50 feet or so on the top but it was still great fun. The wind was roaring and there was an eiry sense that we were floating in the clouds. Our hair got sopping wet, Zeke's eyebrows turned white in the mist, and Chelsea almost became airborne using her windbreaker as a parafoil.
Today we rest...
Love that picture. Are you really standing on the edge looking down to frame that shot? Yikes!
Yep, standing on the edge but what you don't see is the railing I stuck my feet under and leaned over to snap the shot. The railing was a little wobbly so it wasn't a completely relaxing shot. ":^)
