Global warming sucks. The sky is cloudy almost every night and starry gazing has gone right down the tubes. Plus, all of this rain has caused everything to sprout molds and fungi...including our car after leaving the windows down through one too many storm.
Faith spent a fun packed weekend scrubbing the upholstery by hand, with a nasty concoction of borax and vinegar. All that got us was a car that smelled like primordial salad with vinaigrette dressing.
I'm a firm believer in taking things apart as an approach to fixing any and everything. Taken down to small enough components most things reveal their secrets and flaws. Which is exactly how I attacked the car problem.
How hard is it to take carpet out? Well, believe it or not, the fine folks at the VW assembly plant install the carpet and under-padding BEFORE the dash. There are air ducts and structural supports blocking the one-piece carpet from coming out. Nothing a sharp knife can't remedy.
The secret to taking cars apart is not to approach with, "what's the easiest way to disassemble this?" No, think, "what would be the strangest and hardest way?" Remember, there wasn't a windshield when the dash was installed, heck there probably wasn't an engine.
That was last night. The funny part happened on the way to work this morning.
Walking through the garage, on the way out to the other vehicle, Zeke jumped right into the disassembled VW. He's standing there, in more or less the passenger section of flooring, with an expectant look on his face. "Hey, ho, let's go!"
This proves two things:
Needless to say he was pretty bummed when I made him get out of the car and hop in the truck.
Michael Crichton doesn't think global warming is as bad as it's been made out to be:

It's easier to blame it on global warming than to blame it on us leaving the car window open when it rains.
Hey, didn't he invent dinosaurs?
Yep, and charismatic mathematicians, and creepily-rippling puddles, too.
