Highwire
Spider High Wire

The same spider from the other day except using the reverse lens technique to get even closer.

Now I know spiders walk on spider webs and you know spiders walk on spider webs, but how many of us have thought about what that really means? Those webs are miniscule! This spider is the size of a pencil eraser and it makes the web look huge. Unless my sense of scale is off the hairs on its legs are thicker than the web.

Look at the top of the image, right leg, second from the front, and you can see the "toes" standing on a web. I suspect if the photo had more depth of focus we'd find each leg leisurely resting on a strand. Sure, it has four or six eyes but they are all up front!

Fascinating.
