flake Another early morning. Awake at 3:30, driving into the office at 4:30. Nice, light snowfall but a little too dark to appreciate it. Still early enough that the snowplows haven't been out. The road has a dash of fresh snow, unbroken except for the zigzag tracks of a paper delivery truck. A mile outside of town there's someone trudging along in heavy winter jacket and a small backpack, oblivious, probably pissed, doesn't look up as I pass. In town there's an older fellow walking, also bundled up. A couple of blocks later a hefty young fellow is walking, depending on his own insulation rather than the light jacket he's wearing. Three walkers, all out before five in the morning. Must have been some kind of disturbance in the force, woke us all and sent us along our way.
