We have had a nice run of weather, which started on Sunday. Rather than mow, dig, and collapse from exhaustion like we do most sunny days we headed out for a drive in the country. The goal, as much as there was one, was to head towards the White Mountains. Instead of popping onto a major highway we drove backroads, dirtroads, and anything that looked different. You stumble across interesting and unexpected things that way, one of which was a little brookside trail found after a random stop to water the dog. Yesterday's mushroom photo and some others I'll be posting all came from that trail.

As we started getting closer to I-93 we started seeing lots of bikers. The dress code was black leather, receding hairlines, and well weathered bug pocked grimaces. I wanted to photograph them and an action shot seemed the most natural.

That's it, the best I could do. The tail end of a bike. There are another thirty photos of blurred, empty highway. I didn't really stand much of a chance. If each of us were driving about fifty miles an hour that means the bike was moving around a hundred miles an hour relative to the camera's lense. Oh, and the digital camera needs a second or so to take a shot. I was betting on the odds that enough snapshots and I'd eventually get lucky.

Heck, I even practiced on passing cars. Only one of those turned out, but it's a cool one...

I like the wheels!
Ya know, if you half-press the shutter release, you can reduce the shutter lag by quite a bit. It helps!

I was using that, but it only helped a little. The camera was perched precariously on the door frame and I was driving so it was hard to be sure when it was "halfway."

Should have smartened up, had Faith drive, and sit in the back seat to do it right.

It was Laconia Motorcycle Week last week, with Peter Fonda marshalling the big parade on Sunday. Wonder if you saw folks heading home from that.
