On a hike today we detoured up a seldom used trail below a major power-line. Not sure how I spotted these bugs hanging disjointedly in the grass like this. Maybe it was the glow from their otherworldly blue carapaces? Lovely color, in a creepy sort of way.
Frankly it looked like they were just dropped out of the mother-ship.
Luckily it was still early and they were sluggish. Otherwise they probably would have sprung onto me, burrowed under my skin, setup a blue carapaced beetle factory, and I would have been left a mindless bug controlled zombie, unknowingly spreading the colony while maintaining a fictitious front of normalcy by posting fall photos to my weblog.
Holy flurking schnitt!
