I think I've mentioned that our office is nestled in a bend of the Mascoma river. It's a beautiful setting and an ideal spot for noon-time Zeke swims.
What I haven't mentioned is all of the junk that goes floating by or is washed up along the banks. We'll be watching the Merganser Duck couple bobbing for breakfast while a tire floats serenely by in the background (complete with wheel!). Toss in a wide variety of balls, construction foam, swimming pool noodles, half of a rocking chair, shoes, and the odd lumber scraps.
So I really wasn't too surprised to uncover the front of a canoe along the river bank. Makes one wonder what happened to the other eighty percent of the canoe and it's occupants.
p.s. the map is from Summit Geology.
