Sunspot 696 693


Not one of my better sunspot photos. We have strong, gusty winds and they are blowing the clouds (and the occasional snow flake) around like crazy so it is hard to get the sun to stay clean and focused long enough for a glamour shot. That's quite a pair of sunspots.

There have been a few CMEs (coronal mass ejections) and Space Weather predicts auroras during the next 48 hours.

I think you need a 20" reflector to get in really close. You can mount it in your new rooftop observatory.
