Bump

I bumped the California post to today in preparation for the trip. Also I've been checking out extended weather forecasts. Not that we can do anything about it if rains the whole time (it shouldn't) but we can at least figure out what kinds of clothing to pack.

The National Weather Service has a nice Graphical Forecasts section which provides a couple useful views of the forecast. Here's the SF/Monterey week view. Hold your mouse over the low/high (temp) or pop12 (precip) links in the columns for a given day and the map changes shading to show the forecasted amount. Or you can have it animate the week for you by changing to the Loop tab.

All in all the NWS has a bunch of handy tools and even their weather forecast pages are looking pretty good. You can even access their weather from a cellphone. Used to be that all you got from the NWS was a cryptic, monospaced text weather missive (which you can still get). Now they have RSS, XML, movies, planners, and an image of the day.
