I wanted to get a nice angle on the birds so I pretty much laid down on the sand. The tricky part was keeping an eye on the surf so it didn't sneak up and fill the camera with salt water.
The birds were very funny. They would hop around on one leg to escape a high wave or someone walking by. Must take a lot of work to retract that landing gear.

Although, swimming in it one is tempted to think that freezing isn't too far off...
