Sundew Carnivorous Plant

Look what we found on the walk home from work the other day! It's a carnivorous plant called Sundew, or Drosera rotundifolia. The plant is about three inches in diameter and barely over two inches tall.

On memorial day we drove up to see Chickering Bog in Northern Vermont. I was hoping to photograph some of these Sundews and pitcher plants but it was pretty early in the season and we only saw pitcher plants.

There are people who make their own bogs, some with rather interesting plant life. I'd been thinking of adding a little wetlands area to our pond, maybe a bog is in our future?

In my college days the verb, bogging, meant to procrastinate heavily for days on end.

"Dude, what's Eric up to?"
"Whaddya think dude? Bogging."
"Dude, what a bogger!"
