Wow, what a wet weekend! Around 2.8 inches of rain at the house on Saturday and another inch on Sunday. Still, it looks like we got off easy as some of the southern sections of the state clocked in with 12-15 inches of rain.
The water has only risen above this tree a couple of times in the three years we've been at this office and usually only for a short period. It passed the tree on Saturday morning and hasn't retreated since, two days at this level with rain continuing to fall. Our last flood like this was a little over a year ago. A small leak in my office roof has filled a garbage can half full.
At home the pond flooded, I drained it and then it flooded again. I half expect to look out to see bright orange fish swimming around the vivid green lawn in a surrealistic dream.
It's surrealistic enough to see nothing but rushing water outside the two office windows. All manner of identifiable and unidentifiable things float rapidly by, sort of like the tornado scene in Wizard of Oz.
