A semi-long exposure (6 seconds?) of Comet Swan taken from our house last night. Using a 200mm lens with a 1.4 teleconverter on the Nikon D70, for about 380mm of zoom. It was taken using a tripod that didn't track the movement of the heavens (you know, everything revolves around ME!) so longer exposures had even more pronounced star trails. I hope that when the next clear night comes along I'll have the telescope moved back onto the deck and can take a longer exposure, perhaps with more zoom.
If you have a pair of binoculars you can spot the comet in the western sky during the first part of the night. It's been in an area of Hercules. You won't see the tail, though. Even with 30 second exposures I wasn't seeing it. Probably requires a couple minutes of exposure time to pick up the faint light from the tail.
