Raz, 6 months
Raz at 6 months

Raz is a little over six months old now and, so far, we haven't dropped him off at the humane society even once! ":^)

Ok, so he's a little challenging some days. But, for the most part, he has great pup potential. Yeah, he'll get into garbage (and anything else) if given the chance and you gotta be careful what you leave laying around...oh, like kids toys, paper, shoes, etc.. He's still resisting being taught "come here" or "stop." Some of the things he has learned go right out the window with the slightest excuse. Did I mention that he chews everything?

On the plus side it's great to have someone who'll go hiking with me even when it rains (and man, it always rains!) and down all of the crazy trails I like to take. He (currently) doesn't go chasing after animals and noises, but that might be because he's oblivious to them unless they almost bite him in the nose. On the other hand if there's people walking by he'll always run up and try to get re-adopted.

Raz is very good at fetching games. You can have him sit and stay while you hide a toy and he'll almost always find it. Now, getting it back from him is another thing. Add "drop it" "give me that" "leave it" "damnyougivemethatstick" to the list of ignored words. He's very good about going to the bathroom now, preferring to go in the woods (and off trail). He's not up to the point where we can say "go in the woods" and have him go out, do his business, and come back like Zeke would. That's mostly because: a) he doesn't listen, b) he chews everything c) refer to A and B. I'm happy to report that he no longer eats poop, although yesterday he was contemplating rolling in some fresh deer droppings before I intervened.

Physical stats: he weighed 36lbs a couple days ago. Maybe a foot and a half to two feet at the shoulders? I'm guessing because he's laying down right now and measuring him is like trying to measure a two-year old. I believe all of his baby teeth are now gone. There was one fang that was sticking around next to its replacement, but we took care of that a couple weeks ago with a vigorous game of fetch and tug-a-war. He's about due for fixin' as well.

When i want something from him, i usually have to toss a biscuit. Works like a charm!
