Old Pickup and Dawg
Old truck and dawg

Taken on our hike around Quarry Hill yesterday. This is a section of steep "road" (the photo is looking downhill) where they must have once hauled granite blocks down the hill. Three quarters of the way up the hill there's an old, rusted pickup slowly falling apart: no idea if it was part of the operation or some kids on a joy ride, or a dare. Hiking the woods around here you occasionally run across an abandoned vehicle in the most unlikeliest of places. As if someone tried to see how far they could make it into the woods and then abandoned it when they got stuck. Did they report it as stolen? Eventually it becomes a nesting place for small animals and target practice for passing hunters.

If you look closely you can see Raz in the background, waiting for me to resume our downhill hike.

you sure he's there? Which chunk of snow is he?

I didn't see him until I saw his little red collar. Good color choice in the snowy woods.

Yeah, he's not the easiest thing to spot on our winter hikes. Luckily he comes right when called! </sarcasm>
