All in all we had a pretty good, albeit low-key Thanksgiving. I signed up for cooking while Faith continued to suffer from her almost two week old cold. Zane was energized, especially after enjoying a cinnamon roll for breakfast. Around ten or eleven I started cooking, which involved getting a hunk of bread dough out of the fridge and letting it rise/settle, while proceeding to start work on the creme brulee. I also roasted and pureed garlic that would be used in mashed potatoes later in the day. Faith took care of lunch for her and Z and then I managed to get him to take a nap. That opened up the afternoon for uninterrupted cooking. I roasted duck a l'orange and made a side dish of stuffing. Everything turned out good, but I had to put the duck back into the oven for an extra half hour.
I think it's called "letting the dough rest".
wow!
