Lowly ol' hydrogen is in the news this week. Ford is prototyping a Hydrogen combustion engine, Toyota is testing a fuel cell powered SUV and the federal government is funding fuel cell projects.

If you prefer to split atoms the old fashioned way, then how about setting up your own mini nuclear reactor for the neighborhood?

"Scuse me neighbor, but could I borrow a cup of molten lithium-6? Seems the missus forgot to pick some up on the way home from market and our reactor is getting a bit low."

I always worry when a household appliance has operating instructions like: the reactor should be cooled by molten sodium and run at about 530 degrees celsius. On the other hand it kind of makes the wood stove redundant.
