I'm in Flagstaff visiting my brother and his family which includes a new baby girl, Madelaine. My mom has been spending the past month here helping to take care of the baby. Yesterday Mom took the day off and we drove up to the Grand Canyon with the next oldest kid, Chance. The plan was to drive all the way up and over to the North Rim of the Canyon but 20 miles outside of Flagstaff Chance threw up his breakfast and we ended up shortening the trip (after it was apparent that he felt ok) to the south side. A good tip for you Canyon visitors is to arrive early in the morning, 8am or so, and from the east side. We first came to the Grand Canyon Tower designed and built by Mary Coulter. Only a few other tourists were around and we had the tower essentially all to ourselves. By the time we made it to the main entrance the temperature and tourist count was up considerably. Chance was wound up like a 10 year clock and not really safe to have walking around sheer cliffs.

You've probably seen a bazillion photos, but if not here's a dynamic collection from our google friends.
