This article on the scientific process of making ice cream reminded me of making snow ice cream as kids.

Meanwhile down in Florida (where kids never have snow ice cream) researchers are genetically modifying the bacteria in your mouth.  The goal is to prevent tooth decay, since our "home grown" mouth bacteria converts sugars into lactic acid which slowly eats teeth.

However, three human subjects who volunteered to have BCS3-L1's parent strain applied to their teeth in the early 1980's still harbour only it and no S. mutans.  The volunteers have not passed the strain to their wives and children, evidence that it cannot be spread by kissing.
