Yesterday we rented a car in Strasbourg and drove north to a small town/village called Birlenbach in France. Mom believes this is the place that one side of her family orginally came from back in the 1700's, leaving around 1785. Picturesque for sure and much different than what we've seen so far on the trip. I'll post pictures when we get back.

We then drove some of the Alsace wine road, both north and south of Strasbourg, the southern portion being the more mainstream area. Beautiful weather and great countryside. I guess I'd been expecting some sort of mainstream tourist trap area, like those that crop up in the US, but Alsace is predominately farming areas. Maybe if we could read French it would have seemed more touristy? ";^)
